Summer Garden Symposium

For summer 2008, we launched a new event, a Garden Symposium on Fresh Ideas and Inspiring Spaces. It was a lovely day with informative speakers and demonstrations, good food and good fun. We will likely be offering more events like this in the future.

The weather was perfect for our Summer Symposium.

Hostess Marlies Plaggenborg welcomed participants with stories
of her 23 years creating the gardens on the property.

Some guests enjoyed the event in the sun.

Others took refuge in the cool interior.

All guests had a great view of Deb Griffin's dynamic demonstration
of flower arranging with your own garden materials.

David Sibel gave detailed advice about water gardens
based on 50 years of experience.

Tom Warren's lecture about birding in the garden was put into practice
when he toured the Plaggenborg gardens with event participants.

AGC members created bountiful raffle gift baskets from the generous
donations of members and many area retailers.
